Friend Friday: Beauty Products

Source: hijabulous.blogspot.com

Oh! This week's FBFF is about beauty products. Can't be more excited! We love beauty products almost as much as we love clothes!

1. What's your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?

Violette: All my makeup products come from the drugstore. Yeah, I'm cheap (poor?) like that. My favorite makeup product is definitely the "True Match" foundation from L'Oréal. It's the ONLY drug store foundation that's light enough for my skin. (I KNOW it's tested on animals and it's a shame... if you have any suggestions on very fair foundation that isn't tested on animals, please do tell me! Any price range.)

Rose: I don't have any high-end product either, because as far as I'm concerned, drugstore products are doing the job just fine. My favourite product would be the new cucumber foundation by Covergirl (the one with the Taylor Swift ad). Ironically, Violette gave it to me because it was too dark for her skin tone! I love the light feeling and the great coverage of the product - it doesn't feel or look like I'm wearing any make up at all.

2. Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can't live without?

Violette: Well, to me, makeup must start with a good base. So, I would say foundation. I don't have good skin, so even it up is really the first step. I also wouldn't live without moisturizer and lip balm. Oh, and hum... antiperspirant. haha!

Rose: I think I would choose mascara, although foundation is a close second. I love how you can control the effect by applying more - even just a small touch can change the way your eyes look.

3. What's the best hair product you've ever used?

Violette: As a naturally curly girl, my hair has been sulfate and silicone-free for over a year now. It took me some time to adjust, but my hair has never look that healthy. I discovered some products called Live Clean. I use the shampoo (in fact it's a low-poo shampoo) and the oil treatment from the "Argan Oil" line of Live Clean. It's like Moroccanoil, but without any silicones. It smells like heaven, doesn't cost much and is available in drug stores. Love them!

Rose: I use Infusium shampoo and conditioner, but I'm considering switching to Violette's products, especially with my recent color fiasco. My hair is dry and I'm sure it would be happy to use natural products!

4. Fess up, what's the worst beauty look you've tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually did that?

Violette: Very dark lipstick combined with very dark eyes. Ewwwww. And honorable mention to tanning (in my case it's called burning). Please don't. Tanning isn't pretty AND it's dangerous. Oh, and I also tried self tanners. Now I have very fair skin and I don't care.

Rose: I don't know, honestly. I haven't tried many different things, although I've had my hair died every colour. I probably wouldn't go back to dark brown again.

5. When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?

Violette: Blush! I LOVE blush! And it seems like most girls are afraid of blush and don't use it. But blush is one of my favorite products, it instantly lights up your face. So I'm always the girly-girl with big pink cheeks. And you know what? I like it.

Rose: I love my black khol. I apply a thick line directly over my lids, giving my makeup a slight 50s feel to it. Elegant, low-profile and chic - I love it!

  1. I'm definitely not afraid of blush! I really love it, although usually I opt for a more coral-pink colour than just pink. x
