Yay or Nay: Fancy Fannypacks

We all had one when we were kids. Some of our parents might still even own one, or God forbid, use one from time to time (along with stone-washed jeans and white sneakers).

The last season has experienced an unforeseen and often costly comeback of the unfamous fannypack. Many high end brands have produced one - so now not only can you wear a fannypack in style, you can even pay lots of money for it. Has the dreaded bag become chic?

What's your take on that? Is an expensive fannypack still a fannypack? Would a rose smell as sweet with another name (or in this case, price tag)?

3. BCBG - $58
5. Lacoste - $80

Personally, I am not a big fan - but I have to say, the BCBG one has caught my eye. It's more of a waist-clutch, really, but I actually really like it. I can see it being handy (well, quite the opposite) on nights out in the town!

Yay or Nay: Backless and Back cut out dresses

Left to right: Nightcap Clothing, Shop318, Thayer Clothing, Madison Marcus, Elizabeth and James.

I personally LOVE those dresses. I have one very similar to the Madison Marcus (that I yet have to show you on the blog). It's not something for work, obviously, but I like to show my back because it's sexy without trying too hard. And I hate showing cleavage (which I don't have anyway). To me, the only problem with showing my back is the kind of bra to wear. Most of the times I'll show off my bra, I just can't go without one.

What do you think about backless and back cut out dresses?

Yay or Nay: Ankle Wrap

Lately, I've seen quite a few girls wearing ankle wrap shoes. I think these shoes can be very cute: I definitely prefer the more casual ones (the espadrilles or the flats). But I think they can be tricky to wear because ankle straps -in this case, wraps- can really shorten the legs. I don't usually like to stick to some "fashion rules" (hi, Stacey and Clinton!), but this is one I religiously follow. If I am going to wear something around my ankle, I will pair it with a shorter hemline (above the knee) so my legs can look a little longer. But still, it isn't really the most flattering look on me.

Then I would say half-yay, half-nay. I like it, but it's something I would seldom wear.

Your turn now: Yay or Nay?

P.S. We now have a Facebook page. Do you "like" it?

Yay or Nay: Message Tees

Clockwise from top left: net-a-porter, hottopic, colette, uniqlo, oqvestir, dollboutique, my label, jane norman.

Message tees are nothing new, but they still seem to be around.

I don't own any message tee and would probably not wear most of the ones featured here, but some might be kind of cool. For example, I really like the Saturdays tee! Perfect for a casual errands day, no?

So, what do you think of message tees? Yay or nay?

Yay or Nay: Royal Wedding

(Love the invitation!)

Did you guys celebrate the royal wedding in any way? I sure did, early this morning, at the Burgundy Lion pub in Montreal. It was a lovely event, filled with Brits, Royalists and girly girls who just wanted to see the dress. Speaking of which:

What did you think?
I thought it was an amazingly innovative dress: it mixed classic elegance and contemporary looks, from delicate fabrics, fitted silhouette and a modern neckline. I loved everything about it!

As for me, I made sure to display the little princess in me.

Tell us what you thought about the wedding!

Yay or Nay: Wedges

If you haven't seen any wedges yet, well... I don't know where you've been hiding all this time! But we're going to educate you a little.

According to Wikipedia:
Wedge boots or wedgies are boots with a sole in the form of a wedge so that one piece of material, normally rubber, serves as both the sole and the heel. Wedge boots are more common for women and often have a sole that is much thicker at the back than the front, making it a high-heel shoe or boot.

Here's a specimen:

Of course, jeans are a YAY!

What I want to talk about is leg style: skinny, straight, boyfriend or flare?

Yay or Nay: Velvet

This automn, we've seen a lot of velvet.

In my mind, velvet is 1) not flattering and 2) associated with medieval style.

Yay or nay: maxi skirt

There was the maxi dress this summer. I wanted one. I got one. Here.

Now there is the maxi skirt... yay or nay?

My first opinion is, nay. Because it brings me not so good memories.

I remember wearing long skirts in high school, mostly denim ones. And they had a huge slit (often to the side) to be able to walk... so unpretty and so annoying.

I also remember wearing a long floral skirt. I was so proud of it, I bought it at Jacob (which was really expensive at the time). But, man, really?!

Since then, I thought long skirts were uncool and not flattering at all.

But after seeing them on a lot of bloggers... am I changing my mind?! The decisive point will be after trying one on.

I've seen different kinds of maxi skirts...

yay or nay?

Ultra short shorts... yay or nay?

Jumpsuits... yay or nay?

Clogs... yay or nay?

Coloured skinny jeans... yay or nay?

Jade nails... yay or nay?

Personnally, I would say HELL NO to short shorts (that's just too much information), yay for the jumpsuit (it kind of looks flattering, doesn'it it?), no to clogs (c'mon it's not the seventies anymore, stop bringing that fashion back!), no to coloured skinnys and no to jade nails (I don't want a literal green thumb).
What about you guys?
