Yay or Nay: Velvet

This automn, we've seen a lot of velvet.

In my mind, velvet is 1) not flattering and 2) associated with medieval style.

But it looks like I might be wrong...

Nowadays, velvet is for:

Even my own fashion inspiration of the moment had velvet shorts in her collection for Madewell!

Hum... so what do you think about velvet? Yay or nay?

Does your opinion differ according to the type of item?

  1. I like it on accessories like shoes and headbands. But some people can really rock a blazer or shorts, more power to them!

  2. NAY to everything above there! Especially the leggings and the shorts.

I think large amounts of velvet fabric belong to either a curtain or the dress you linked...

But I saw a forest green velvet jacket somewhere, it had a sparkly brooch on it. I kind of liked it, although I would never wear it!

I agree with Liz, velvet is nice is small touches. Less is more!

  3. J'aime bien le velours, il apporte une touche luxueuse aux vêtements, même aux shorts...

  4. I also agree with you girls! Velvet in small touches is nice. I once had a black velvet blazer and I really loved it. I also like velvet blazers on guys.

Lulu, c'est vrai qu'il apporte une touche luxueuse aux vêtements. Peut-être que ça dépend aussi avec quoi on le porte!

  8. Ah damn it, pas le velour... C'est tellement un tissus qui n'avantage pas une femme qui vient d'accoucher.
